IMPORTANT CHANGES TO THE WAY YOU ORDER REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS

What is changing?

If your medicine is ordered on your behalf from your pharmacy, you will now need to order it from the surgery. Your prescription requests will now be managed by yourself and your surgery. Please be assured that this change WILL NOT affect your supply of medication or the collection and delivery service that is currently in place. It is only the requesting and ordering of your medication that is affected.

What do I need to do?

We will now only accept repeat prescription requests from you, a member of your family or a carer. Options for requesting your repeat prescription from the surgery will now be:

  • My Health Online
  • Email to prescriptions.w93055@wales.nhs.uk
  • Via the repeat prescriptions request form on this website
  • In person
  • Via the surgery letter box
  • Via letter posted to the surgery.

We also have a repeat dispensing service which allows the practice to supply your pharmacy with 6 months of your regular medications that you could then collect from your chemist on a monthly basis with no need to order. Your pharmacy will let you know when you need to re-order another 6 month supply. There are some exceptions and not all patients will be eligible for this service.

Tips on ordering your medication:

  • Please only order medicine when it is needed.
  • Please check how many days medication you have left before you order more.
  • It takes the surgery 2 working days (Monday – Friday, not including bank holidays) to produce a repeat prescription.
  • Please be aware that all pharmacies require 5 working days to process your prescription, this is on top of the 2 days that the surgery takes. In total you should leave 7 working days between ordering your prescription and collecting from your nominated pharmacy.

When is this happening?

These changes will take place from the 1st September 2021

What is not changing?

If you already order your repeat prescriptions yourself from the surgery, you will not be affected.

If your prescriptions are collected from the surgery by the pharmacy, they can continue to do this and they will still be able to deliver your medicines if this already do so.

What about housebound patients?

Housebound and vulnerable patients will be identified by the surgery and the pharmacies. These patients will then be contacted by the surgery to provide them with further information on how to order their medication.
